"I want to confirm for everyone that the Sisters new “book” will be coming out sometime this year (most likely before the Necron release). There is more– SoB will be White Dwarf only release stretched over two issues, with a online PDF by the end of the year. I had reported this possibility (in a cryptic matter before) on BoLS, so this is a confirmation of said rumor. Cruddace will be the author for PDF as well. No word on new sculpts, but my bet is on only resin recast of existing models. As for the rules I have nothing to report as of yet, but look for at least two ecclesiastical characters from the fluff/past to appear in the new dex."

Wow if this is true, then this a big change from the rumors that are currently out there. I guess this also means that Sisters are going to be a direct order only army. So much for them getting a new book.......Uncle Buckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03383146149212862067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1872952195290511403.post-69877704153808251392011-04-20T21:21:00.000-07:002011-04-20T21:21:44.542-07:00The "Art Scale" Custodes

Ok folks,

As many of you know I have had this crazy idea of making an upscaled version of the Adeptus Custodes. This has been in the works since last WARGames Con. Thanks to Master of the Forge for his tutorial on making his "Art Scale" marines. I've been plugging away on them. I still haven't gotten the process completely correct for a mass build up, but they are coming along.

Now I am going to use the the Gray Knights Codex to simulate this army. Now there are those that I know that have thrown up there arms and have walked away yelling..."Not another counts as Buck. The last one is still giving me fits." I am determined to see this project through, and hopefully to have them ready for Astro-Dallas in November.

Now to the meat of the post. I have found the Dreadknight that I am going to use.

BEHOLD THE GOODNESS

This thing screams Custodes. I will eventually have to have three of them just so the army will be complete.
I still haven't decided what to do with the Sisters of Silence. I may have to run them as some sort of henchmen to an inquisitor.....Hmm maybe Death Cult Assassins.

Well folks thats all for now.Uncle Buckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03383146149212862067noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1872952195290511403.post-30420867558594062072011-04-18T14:54:00.001-07:002011-04-18T19:13:10.751-07:00WIP pics of Razorback and finished Stormraven

Ok folks here is the MK I and MK II laz-plaz razorback.

My "Nids"

Ok, so the mission was Kill Points and deployment was Dawn of War. Robert got the choice of sides and decided to go first. He deployed his Razorback and Rhino with his wolf Lord in Term. armor in it. I know that you can't deploy all of that in DoW, but it slipped my mind, and I didn't catch his Wolf Lord till later in the game, but since it was friendly I let it slide. He honestly thought that termies could ride in rhinos in the SW army. We looked up the term. armor war-gear and he learned something new. Now back to the game. I null deployed and that threw him for a loop as it denied him two full turns of shooting. He really wasn't expecting that.

TURN 1:
Robert moved everything on the board, he was screening his TW Cav. by running his Fenwolves in front of them. He then rolled for the run, nothing to shoot at, and bogged down everything with a run roll of "1" for the fen. wolves.
TURN 2:
Robert moved everything towards the center of the board trying to be conservative as he did not know what was going to happen as I had 3 deep-strikers, and an outflanking gene-stealers.

Turn 3 after Movement

My turn 2 I got in exactly half of my army. The Stealers showed up on the wrong side of the board. I dropped the Pod in close to his units. A fairly aggressive move, but I needed the Doom close to as many units for it to be a real threat. the Trygon droped in close and stuck in front of the Razor. The Razor was targeted by the 'Zopes, and made it smoke saves. The Trygon knocked off a HK from the Rhino. The Doom gained wounds from both of the Fen. Wolves and the pod knocked off another HK. The Fen. wolves took a ton of wounds, but Robert's dice were hot and made all but 2 of the 10 cover saves for the round.

The Lost Stealers. Another Cult meeting ran long...

TURN 3:
Robert the got out his hunters from the Rhinos to get rid of the Trygon breathing down his throat Which he took out in the shooting phase, from 3 units. He then moved to set up a multi charge on the Doom with his TW Cav. and his Fen wolves. Who, by the way, gained 2 more wounds during Robert's shooting phase.Robert proceeded to target the Doom, but failed to do anything to her. During the assault phase Robert charged the Doom and she held out gaining 2 more wounds, now a total of 10. Expletives were spewed by this roll of Fate. I rolled my reserves, and got in everything except my Swarmy, and my other 'Zopes. So during my shooting phase the Doom struck again, taking off another 3 wounds from the Fen wolves, 2 from the TW Cav, the WL lead Fen. Wolf pack took 1. All in all good "shooting from the Doom. My 'Zopes took out the Razor, dumping the crew out.

TURN 4:
Robert moved away from the Doom this turn as to not get the big kiss of from her. His termies moved to charge the 'Zopes. During this shooting phase the Doom only did 1 wound, and that was saved on shield. He then charged the Doom with his WL lead Fenwolves, did 2 wounds to the Doom. The Doom recovered those wounds during her strikes. The Termies took out one of the 'Zopes. My turn 4 everything is in, and I set up a charge on his termies from my 'gaunts, 20 of them with poison and preferred enemy on 10. It could get nasty. My remaining 'Zopes came through a Trygon hole, and target the crew from the Razor in the open with their blasts. The Doom takes out 6 wounds on the TW Cav, leaving one with one wound , wipes the remaining Fen Wolves, and does 6 wounds to the WL.

Robert calls the game after this disasterous turn of rolling. The heart of his army has been taken out, but he is a good sport. It was a fun game and Robert learned a few ways to make his list a little better. Star of the game......THE DOOM

Well Stayed tuned in for the next batrep, as I play a 1500 point Blood Angels vs. the new Deathwing.

The story is that he was leading an ill fated recruitment mission. Upon landing, he was seized by visions of Sanguineous walking this world. It was during a search for possible candidates that a small cult to Tzench had infected the world. Since the mission was one of recruitment only the captain of the 10th, the company's sanguinary priest, and a few veterans of the first company were present. It was during the fight the cultists somehow managed to open a warp-rift. Lucius and the veterans was dragged through the portal. The Captain was sure that they were lost. He then sacrificed himself to close the rift as he could see that demons were gathering to come through. As he slaughtered the first horror to come through, he called for the lance strike that would end his life and seal the rift. Centuries lated the Grey Knights, responding to an open warp rift, came upon a small battle weary band fighting at the mouth of the rift. It seems that what was sealed was a rip in the web way. The Knights descended upon the demons with zeal and after the battle was over and the rip sealed once more. The band was taken into custody, to determine if they were pure and untouched by Choas.

Lucius and brothers had fallen to the Black Dream, as it is known to the Storm Acolytes. They had fallen and survived. During his interrogation, Lucius reviled that a group of multicolored dancing Eldar had happened upon them, and he had saved their leader, known as Solitaire, from a Keeper of secrets by using the Eldar's sword. During a lull in the fighting, the Solitaire gave Lucius his sword as a gesture of gratitude. A hideous ugly thing, that seemed to have a life of its own. When he received the sword as his own, the sword revealed that is was a construct, dedicated to the destruction of demons, especial those of the Great Devourer. After months, if not a year, the Knights declared that all were clean of the taint of Chaos, and they were taken to the fortress monastery of the Acolytes. After further testing, by the chapter, they were restored with full honors. Yet Lucius had grown far beyond any of the other Librians, his visions were now of a predictive nature, and they have saved the chapter from disaster on many occasion. It seems that without fail, when Lucius has taken the field, the being know as the Sanguinor has shown up and bestowed his blessing upon a Sargent or veteran for that battle. Yet alas the blessing comes with a price, as the received is either grievously wounded or killed in action.

He is an old Thunderhead Veteran Sargent that was wounded in battle with a Hive Tyrant. He was gifted by the Sanguinor hence his internment in the Dreadnought Sarcophagus. Let me know what y'all think.Uncle Buckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03383146149212862067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1872952195290511403.post-17035652860440840202011-02-26T07:31:00.000-08:002011-03-05T08:54:44.844-08:00New Paint scheme for the AngelsHowdy all,
Sorry for the lack of up dates but alas work has been in the way. So, I am getting ready for Adepticon, and was looking at various ways to paint my 1000 points for the team tourney. I looked at the standard BA red, some of the other offshoots, even to the Lamenters chapter for inspiration, but finally found it over at Bolter and Chainsword.

There I was looking at a variation on the Exorcist theme and an idea struck me. Why do I need to do a quartered paint style? Is it any easier to paint than a basic paint scheme? How many other folks our there have a quartered style? Then I found this wonderful tool. It is a way for you to try out different themes without wasting models, although I do have models set aside for that very reason. Here is the link to the The Bolter and Chainsword : Space Marine Painter. This is a great tool for anyone painting marines.

Well, back to the issue at hand.

Storm Acolytes Assault Marine

The markings for the various types of squads will be the strip on the helmet. They will follow the traditional BA markings: Yellow for assault, red for tactical and blue for devastator. All sargents will have the Corvus pattern helm. For the elites, I am undecided on the demarcation. I still like the gold denoting them as veterans, but to use a strip or the whole helmet, that is the question.

As for the name of this dubious chapter I have decided to call them the Storm Acolytes

I think its a unique paint style that has some flair about it, yet remains easy to paint, and holds true to the BA fluff.

Check back in a few days to see the first assault squad completed.Uncle Buckhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03383146149212862067noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1872952195290511403.post-91024118172401675552011-02-17T01:24:00.000-08:002011-02-17T01:24:12.320-08:00Possible 2000 Point ListHey Folks

I think that will play very fast and with the missiles being dual use, they can take care of both hordes and anti-tank. Land Raiders will be the most difficult to deal with, but the Dread can take care of that. I've been tooling around with going back to my first love. That would be Blood Angels. I have always enjoyed the fluff behind this army and look forward to getting a nice looking army on the field.

Here is a list that I have come up with that I think plays to the strengths of the codex and is competitive without being overly "beardy".

Ok, first off the Sang Priest go in the assault squads giving them a bit more punch. Having three in there allows me not to have to worry about are the squads inside the bubble or not. I know they are a bit expensive considering they are one wound ICs, but I think that they can work and be a big pain to the opponent. The dreads some folks think are a waste of points. they are slow, in an otherwise fast moving army, and only AV12 when most of the heavy support slots are AV13, and dakka preds are much cheaper. I belive that they are the real surprise here. They give the list some much needed long range punch and if I need them to tie up a squad I can.
Here is the top down view. I accented the worn parts by using a tutorial that I saw on how to make bullet marks. The process is really simple. Free hand the area you want to have the mark with black then fill it in, leaving a small area black, with boltgun metal. Then a final highlight of mithril silver to get the final new metal look. Works out great, just don't go overboard like I did the first time.
